Staffordshire Bull Terriers in England – UK Staffie breeders
Staffordshire Bull Terriers in England
If you are looking to adopt a Staffordshire Bull Terrier in England, hope this article will help you. I wanted to create a little directory and list a few breeders of Staffordshire Bull Terriers in England for your convenience.
If there is a breeder you like (or are located close to), be sure to read all the information on their website carefully and see if this is someone you would want to work with. A good breeder will invest a lot of effort into raising healthy dogs, which means screening the parents for genetic health issues and making sure the puppies don’t inherit any grave conditions. Good breeders show their dogs in the Show ring and will always be happy to tell you about their dogs’ pedigrees as this is usually something they are proud of.
A good breeder will also have you visit them and the pups before signing the deal. Which brings us to: a trustworthy breeder will always have you sign a contract! A contract is a document stating your (and the breeder’s) rights and obligations towards each other and towards the dog and is absolutely critical when buying a puppy. Do not trust a breeder that doesn’t offer you a contract.
Staffordshire Bull Terriers in England: Hamason
According to their website, this breeder’s love for Staffordshire Bull Terriers actually originated in an area of England – the Heart of the Black Country – where the breed was originally established! They are a third-generation breeder truly in love with this breed. Their dogs are of excellent quality (many are champions) and all are genetically tested to produce excellent, healthy litters. They have a lot of photos of their dogs as well as breed-specific articles on their website. Check them out if you are looking for a Staffie near Dudley, West Midlands.
Kent Staffs (Kent)
As is obvious from the name, this kennel is located in Kent, England. According to their website, this breeder has long been in love with Staffordshire Bull Terriers. They strive to breed the best possible Staffies with excellent bloodlines. They make sure they only breed from Staffordshire Bull Terrier standard, to make sure that the looks, personality traits, and excellent bloodlines are not lost.
They choose the owners for their puppies carefully, caring as much for the puppy’s future well being as much as they do about the owner. To the new owners, they recommend a natural raw diet (for the pup, not the owner!), plenty of exercise, and lots of love. You can learn more and also get on the waiting list on the Kent Staffs website.

Jolihem (Notts & Lincs)
Jolihem Kennels are located in Notts & Lincs, England. This is a Kennel with quite the history!
According to their website, their kennels were established back in the 1950s! The kennels have owned and bred a record number of Champion Staffordshire Bull Terriers in the breed’s country of origin, and have played an important part in the establishing of the breed. One of the first owners of the kennel, the late Lionel F. Hemstock, has been into the breed for pretty much his whole life.
Today, Jolie still produces excellent Staffords. The dogs do not live in the Kennels, but in the house with the family, which satisfies their “pack animal” nature and helps with the socialization of the puppies. Although the Kennel breeds excellent show dogs, no puppy is discarded even if they don’t grow up to be “perfect” for showing. This is a great breeder that approaches breeding with the utmost respect and care for the breed.
They care greatly about the best possible living conditions for their dogs and puppies. They only allow their puppies to be purchased by the owners that can put in proper care for the dog, including housing, nutrition, exercise and socialization. This breeder insists that their dogs wear proper collars and are tattooed and microchipped. They also ask the future owners to leash the dog when in public. They offer some other advice as well, and also accept their dogs back if the new owners can’t continue caring for them.
You can find some more excellent resources, as well as pictures and more Kennel history on their website.

All breeding dogs and puppies are health tested and screened for genetic issues, so you can be sure you are getting a healthy puppy. They grow into well-adjusted, happy and active dogs, surrounded by people and children of various ages. They also get acquainted with cats and horses!
Due to the fact that all puppies are hand raised and exposed to a variety of people and situations from a very young age (from birth!), they grow to be well-socialized and happy dogs, capable to handle any social situation.
